Welcome

NutrienTech LLC is a nutraceutical development company. Nutraceuticals, like pharmaceuticals, are purified compounds that are formulated into pills to be taken by mouth. The major distinction between nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals is that, unlike pharmaceuticals that are drugs that are mainly used to treat illnesses, nutraceuticals are nutrients that are purified from our foods that are taken to prevent people from getting sick. The nutraceutical concept is not new, and dozens of companies have emerged in recent years that market a variety of dietary supplements. NutrienTech LLC is excited to provide what it sees as the “next generation” in nutraceuticals by including the bridge between nutrition and technology. Our goal is to understand specific mechanisms for diseases that are due, in part, to deficiencies in specific nutrients, and to bridge the gap between the scientist and the consumer through education. Through our programs, people can learn how nutrients work in their bodies and how they can avoid developing certain diseases by making sure that they maintain an adequate intake of specific nutrients. This website is dedicated to promoting this understanding, and the pages which follow provide the details of our mission and document our journey.

NutrienTech LLC scientists are particularly interested in a specific group of nutrients that are called micronutrients (also known as trace nutrients). As the name implies, micronutrients are those that are needed in very small quantities. One way that healthy people stay healthy is to acquire the right amount of micronutrients from their food, and to maintain this proper amount of micronutrients in all of the cells of their body. It is important to realize that, like reducing high blood pressure, the effects of maintaining micronutrients at the correct levels do not necessarily produce immediate and/or dramatic changes in mood, energy or alertness; benefits rather become more visible over time, as we live longer, healthier lives.

The micronutrients do not work all by themselves. When we are young, our bodies are able to manufacture chemicals (called nutrikines) that act as “shuttles” for the micronutrients. The nutrikines pick up micronutrients from our food and deliver them throughout our bodies. As we get older, for reasons that are not yet fully understood, we lose the ability to produce nutrikines. When this happens, we are not able to get enough micronutrients from our food. Some people become deficient in certain micronutrients, and if the deficiency is not corrected, they may develop chronic degenerative diseases. Fortunately, there are a number of chemicals in our food that work just like the nutrikines that our own bodies produce. The older we get, the greater our reliance on our foods that contain not only micronutrients, but also the nutrikines that assure their delivery and utilization.
